The Unity Labour Party Youth Manifesto 2015
Table of Contents
My Dear Young Friends,
These are the fourth general elections in which I have the honour of leading the Unity Labour Party (ULP). I am asking you to support and vote the ULP; I am asking you to renew your confidence in me as Prime Minister for the next vital five years of your life. We in the ULP seek your support and your vote because we possess a compelling vision, the policies and programmes relevant for these challenging times; we have a splendid track record of achievements; we have kept our promises and we can be trusted always to keep our promises; we are endowed with quality candidates and leadership; and we have been graced with a splendid love for our people, including the youth. We have faith in you; and we know that this faith is made complete with deeds.
This Youth Manifesto and our Party’s overall Manifesto for the General Elections of 2015 contain a bundle of visionary policies and practical proposals to make life and living of the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, including the youth, far better than before. In the process, we are building upon our excellent work of the past 15 or so years.
I am quite concerned with the issues which face young people. You hear it in my words; you see it in my actions; and you know of our government’s uplifting policies for young people. The ULP and I do not see young people as problems to be solved; we see young people as being at the core of the solutions to our nation’s problems; the young people are our nation’s treasure.
Those of you who are voting for the first time would have no memory of any other Prime Minister but me. I feel sure that in your hearts and minds you know that I love you and that I am committed to ensuring a better life for you, your family and our nation. I am determined as always to facilitate the optimal conditions for you to soar like eagles with your wings unclipped.
Please, do not let us go backwards to the days when secondary school was not available to all, when few scholarships were available, when tens of thousands were in dirt poor poverty and when we couldn’t even easily travel from one part of our country to another. We have come too far to turn back now. Together we can all shape our future with love and caring, and through God’s boundless grace, mercies and blessings.
To the right thing: Vote ULP and Comrade Ralph.
Dr. The Hon. Ralph E. Gonsalves
