The ULP government commits to achieving ZERO HUNGER before 2020 and the Elimination of Extreme Poverty (“dirt poor” poverty) by that date also.  We are committed to the goal of ending general poverty, the goal of ZERO POVERTY, by 2030.  In order to achieve all this we will especially focus on the implementation of the many-sided programmes embedded in at least the following eight Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): (i) End Poverty in all its forms everywhere; (ii) End Hunger, Achieve Food Security, and Improved Nutrition, and Promote Sustainable Agriculture; (ii) Ensure Sustainable Consumption and Production Patterns; (iv) Conserve and Sustainably Use the Oceans, Seas, and Marine Resources; (v) Sustainably Manage Forests, Halt and Reverse Land Degradation, Halt Biodiversity Loss; (vi) Ensure Access to Water and Sanitation for all; (vii) Ensure Access to Affordable, Reliable, Sustainable Modern Energy; (viii) Take Urgent Action to Combat Climate Change and its Impacts.

The especial focus on these eight SDGs is inextricably entwined with the programmes under the other nine SDGs touching and concerning Education, Health, Economic Growth and Job Creation, Gender Equality, Resilient Infrastructure and Housing, Reducing Inequality, Safe and Sustainable Cities/Towns, Promoting Just and Peaceful Societies, and Revitalising Global Partnerships for Sustainable Development.

Thus, in these ways the ULP government will build on its excellent record in Reducing Poverty and Under Nourishment.
