Grenville T. Williams is the Attorney General of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and an attorney-at-law with 22 years of experience in legal practice, financial investigations, and public service. A National Scholar of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, he holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of the West Indies, a Legal Education Certificate from the Hugh Wooding Law School, and a Master of Laws in Banking and Finance from the University of London. He is also a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (ACAMS).
As Attorney General, Mr. Williams has overseen the modernization of laws to strengthen justice delivery, improve governance and accountability, and ensure fairness in the legal system. He has worked with regional and international partners to counter organized crime, enhanced measures against money laundering and corruption, and guided the Attorney General’s Chambers to deliver effective, ethical, and people-centered legal services.
Before he was appointed Attorney General, Mr. Williams served as Director of the Asset Recovery Unit of the Regional Security System (RSS), where he led a regional team tackling organized crime through asset recovery, money laundering investigations, and cross-border cooperation. Under his leadership, the RSS identified and restrained over US$26 million in criminal assets and deepened partnerships with the US, UK, UNODC, OAS, OECS, and CARICOM.
Previously, he was Director of the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines for nearly a decade. He guided the FIU to become a recognized center of excellence in financial investigations, compliance, and regulation. Notable achievements during his tenure include securing the first civil cash forfeiture order in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and overseeing the investigation of the largest cash seizure in the Eastern Caribbean (US$1.7 million).
Williams began his career as an Associate Attorney-at-Law with Saunders & Huggins and later advanced through national and regional leadership roles. He is also a frequent international speaker and trainer, having delivered lectures and capacity-building programs for prosecutors, regulators, customs officials, police, and compliance officers both locally and internationally.
In addition to his professional service, Williams has been active in community and civic life. He has chaired the National Commission on Crime Prevention and the Cane Grove Community Neighborhood Watch, served on the National Firearms Board and Cadet Force Board, and been a member of Rotary International.
His leadership as Attorney General is grounded in integrity, fairness, and collaboration, motivating teams to achieve results while ensuring justice, security, and service to the people of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
