Improving Public Safety and Fighting Crime

  • Increased the size of the SVG Police Force by 70% between 2001 and 2025, adding 450 police officers 
  • Installed over 400 CCTV cameras nationwide to improve surveillance, investigation and deterrence 
  • Installed digital scanners at the Port to detect guns and bullets smuggled into SVG through barrels 
  • Hired an additional criminal court judge to speed up the delivery of justice through more efficient processing of criminal cases 
  • Markedly improved the condition of police stations nationwide H Deepened cooperation with regional and international intelligence agencies to help stem the flow of narcotics and illegal firearms H Opened a temporary courthouse facility to improve the efficiency of the judiciary

  • Markedly increased the salaries, qualifications and professionalism of the Police force 
  • Expanded the Coast Guard with additional staff, training and assets, including the Captain Hugh Mulzac patrol vessel 
  • Established the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) as the main vehicle in the fight against money laundering and other financial crimes
